Tip #1: Place the gasket in a freezer for a short time (about 1-3 minutes) until it is very cold but NOT frozen. The cold will shrink the gasket very slightly, making installation easier. The gasket will expand to normal size as soon as it reaches room temperature. Tip #2: Rubbing a little bit of water along the gasket's outer rung may also make inserting the gasket easier. Remember, the gasket is designed to fit very taut to prevent water leakage. It may take a few tries to get the hang of installing the gasket without compromising the glass globe.
